Dental fillings are used to repair cracked or broken teeth. To treat your cavity, Comprehensive Dental Care gently removes the decayed portion of the tooth and then fills in the area on the tooth where the decayed material was removed.
Types of Fillings
There are reasons why amalgam has remained a superior restorative material over resin-base composites. Amalgam is superior to that of resin-based compomer in primary teeth and composites in permanent teeth. Almagam is resilient and seven times less likely to need repair or replacement (compared to composite).
There are circumstances in which composite serves better than amalgam. These situations would include small restorations, in which amalgam would require the removal of more sound tooth structure. Composite also works well for cosmetic purposes when a restoration is needed on a visible tooth.
